Grassroots Trust Board of Directors, who have overall responsibility for governance of the Trust, bring strong business acumen and experience to the board table ensuring that Grassroots Trust operates a compliant and responsible industry leader.
Martin has been the Chairman of Grassroots Trust since 2004. He has been a practising lawyer for 28 years and is a partner at the Hamilton based law firm Norris Ward Mckinnon. Martin is a member of the NZ Cricket Players Association having played First Class Cricket for Auckland; and was the former Chairman for Northern Districts Cricket Board of Directors. He is also a keen rugby and racing enthusiast.
Kevin Burgess is a pharmacist and co-owner of two pharmacies in the Waikato. Kevin has had a long and active involvement within the Cambridge community, serving on both sporting and community organisations. Kevin is also on the Board of Trustees for Cambridge Resthaven and co-founder of Perago Sports Trust. He has been a Grassroots Trustee since 2005.
Craig is a partner of Findex (NZ) Limited and the Chairman of Waipa Networks Trust. Craig also coaches the Te Awamutu College Under 15 Rugby Team. Craig has been a long serving Trustee on the Te Awamutu Primary School Board of Trustees having retired this year. Craig is a keen supporter of all sports.
Tracey is a Family Lawyer based in Hamilton and has a wealth of Governance experience. Tracey has had long running experience serving on School Boards and has been involved in legal education as well as a number of community and legal organisations. Tracey has a very keen interest in education and the arts.
Jeremy is the Managing Director of Lodge Real Estate in Hamilton, as well as a Director of Cambridge Real Estate. He is also a Board Member of NZ Realtors Ltd and was a former parent representative on the Waikato Diocesan School for Girls Board of Trustees. Jeremy is a keen supporter of all sport particularly rugby and netball and still actively plays tennis and squash.
Gary Troup was appointed to the Grassroots Trust Board in December 2017 and brings with him extraordinary experience gained through not only his sporting achievements as a NZ Cricket player (Black Cap from 1976 – 1986), his involvement in sports governance, but also as a result of his elected local government roles. Gary has experience in strategic direction and planning, business, commercial and fundraising. He is actively involved in various sporting and community groups within the Auckland Region with a particular focus on youth development. Gary also has a keen interest in Arts and Culture.
Fraser is the Managing Partner of BDO Tauranga. BDO is an international chartered accountancy and business advisory network. Fraser has over 25 years of business and governance experience including having past directorship positions on a regional economic development agency, and was Secretary of the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust (‘TECT’). He is a current Board member of Northern Districts Cricket Association and a Trustee of the Bay Oval Trust, which operates and oversees the international cricket ground based at Mount Maunganui. He enjoys a strong association within the charitable, sporting, school and education and not for profit sectors in both a professional business and personal capacity.
